WE (especially high handicapper) alway have a problem to handle pitch over the water. According to Rick Smith, Golf Digest teaching profesional, first try to block out thoughts of the hazard when you're setting up. Focus on the green instead, not the hazard.
Technically, remember two things; i) keep your body turning through the shot and (ii) extend your arms. Feel as if your hand, belt buckle and chest are moving in unison toward target.
